RESISTOR

An electrical component with two terminals, functions passively by introducing electrical resistance into a circuit. The unit of electrical resistance, named after Georg Simon Ohm, is the ohm (Ω) in the SI system.

Their purpose includes regulating current within a circuit or creating a specific voltage drop, serving to control the flow of electricity.


Resistors can be found in various electronic devices, from simple LED circuits to complex computer systems. They come in different shapes, sizes, and materials, each with its own resistance value. These components play a crucial role in controlling current flow, adjusting voltage levels, and protecting sensitive parts of a circuit from damage due to excessive current.

Whether in series or parallel configurations, resistors are integral to shaping and controlling electrical currents to ensure the proper functioning of electronic devices and circuits.

Bleeder Resistor
A bleeder resistor, strategically positioned in parallel with a high-voltage supply, serves the crucial function of dissipating stored energy within the power source's filter capacitors or other electrical components when the equipment is powered down.
